This was a wonderful project that came through a friend, Bill Bush of Bush & Co., a Florida-based advertising firm. Bill called and said that he was swamped and couldn't give this project the proper attention it needed and because I was just a few miles away from the Shane's, he'd love it if I could take the project over. Which I did.
After meeting with Bobby and Bob Shane, I put together a presentation to show them what I would and could do to market this event. Below is the work I created including naming the event and creating the first, tru, Kingston Trio logo.
This was a music retreat and nightly concert series.
One of the things that made this so damn interesting to me was the sheer amount of hand skills it took to put such a limited quantity of pieces together and do it in a manner that reflected a quality, high-end event. Sourcing materials was also something new to me. Finding and buying an affordable laminating machine for make personal passes and ID tags, them laminating them and finding a trimming punch to round the corners. Each pass was custom printed on my Epson 4800 Stylus Pro. Each nightly group of tickets was custom printed to reflect what was scheduled for that evening's performances. It was all very fluid and extremely fun.
I just don't see something like this happening today. Not sure why, it just seems somewhat overkill. That's why I'm so grateful Bobby and Bob gave me the latitude to create all of these elements.
