  1. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and grated nutmeg. Cream the butter and gradually add the sugar until mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  2. Alternately add the flour mixture and apples to the creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Using the paper towel, spread the Crisco to all internal surfaces of the loaf pan paying special attention to the corners and creases.Pour into a well greased 9-inch loaf pan and bake at 350° F or 50 - 60 minutes or until bread is nicely browned and springs back when lightly pressed in the center. Cool 10 - 15 minutes in the pan before removing. Cool completely before slicing.
