This is just one of over 9,000 recipes we've collected since early 1996. Many of these recipes have been passed down from family member to family member and then shared with friends and then, with Mike Pitzer's Secret Recipes. When it comes to recipes, the real secret is that all of our recipes always have been, and always will be free!

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Brown beef in bacon grease or oil and place in bowl (if you're making this the night before, so that you can just toss it all into your crock pot the following morning).
  2. Add thyme, tomato paste, chopped garlic, bay leaf, and onions; cook 'til onions are slightly softened.
  3. Place in crock pot with beef and cook on low setting for 8-10 hours. About 1/2 hour before serving time, add mushrooms you've sautéed in 2 tsp butter to crock pot along with burgundy if you like a thicker gravy ~ whisk in some gravy flour.
  4. Change setting to high and cook for that extra half hour.
  5. Servings: 4 to 6
